Zhao Jiancheng,Born in 1949, Zhao Jiancheng is Director of the Academic Committee of the China National Academy of Painting under the China National Academy of Arts, a doctoral supervisor, researcher at the China National Academy of Painting, member of the Art Committee for Major National Themes of the China Artists Association, Fellow of the Beijing Research Institute of Culture and History, and a National First-Class Artist. He is also a recipient of the State Council’s Special Government Allowance.

Zhao has played a leading role in numerous national art projects on major historical themes. His representative works include The First KMT–CPC Cooperation, Alliance of Ethnic Groups – The Seven Streams Gathering, The Western Campaign of Emperor Kangxi, A New World – 1949 Beijing, and The Founding Ceremony (commissioned for the centennial of the Communist Party of China). His works have been awarded in five consecutive National Art Exhibitions, marking him as one of the most influential contemporary Chinese painters.
