Ung Chee Hau, studio director and art educator, graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the Kuala Lumpur Academy of Fine Arts and later majored in Chinese with a minor in Fine Arts and Music at Tuanku Bainun Teachers’ Training College, Bukit Mertajam. He is a member of the North Kedah Art Society and the Balik Pulau Art Society. In 2000, his work was selected for the Nokia Art Award (National Art Gallery, Kuala Lumpur). From 2002 to 2018, he participated in annual exhibitions of the North Kedah Art Society, and from 2011 to 2017 in the Malacca Art Society Annual Exhibitions. Between 2013 and 2019, he was active in the Balik Pulau Art Society exhibitions. His works were featured in the 1001 Malaysian Artists and Sculptors Exhibition (2013), collected at the 9th Asia International Art Exchange Exhibition in Qingdao, China (2018), and showcased at the 1st Malaysia International Watercolor Biennale (2018). He won the Bronze Award at the 3rd International Art Exhibition in Fukuoka, Japan (2019), participated in the 2nd Varna International Watercolor Triennial in Bulgaria (2019), and the Pan-Pacific Nations Art Exhibition in Zhejiang, China (2019). His art has earned consistent recognitions both regionally and internationally.
